The pursuit of...A lovely weekend

It started off as one of those was raining heavily early on Saturday, grey and miserable and I really did not want to leave my bed- I felt like just having a rainy duvet day on the sofa, with a boxset of  'Scandal' to while away the hours...(Who doesn't love Olivia Pope?!)

I had plans to meet a friend for shopping and I was just thinking about ringing her and postponing until tomorrow when suddenly the phone rang.  It was my friend, excited and happy about our day out and catching could I let her down...I was just being lazy after all!

After I came out the shower, I was surprised to see that the grey clouds had disappeared and the sun was beaming! Hooray, a sunny day! Maybe the grey clouds had all been in my mind...

This made me laugh on Instagram over the weekend

I am so glad that I dragged myself out of my comfy covers yesterday as I had such a lovely day.
We decided to go to Lakeside...we both hadn't been there for absolute ages, so it was a nice change.
The roads were clear, the sun was shining and we were on our way on our little road trip, windows down, music blaring (to Michael Jackson's new record 'XSCAPE' - it's amazing).

I saw a gorgeous DKNY bag in House of Fraser.  Its a lovely striking green colour and comes with a matching purse (below)....I was very tempted but I am more into pastel colours at the moment.
There are so many blush pink and duck egg blue bags and purses that are more the look I am after.
I saw a beautiful pale pastel pink purse from Pied a Terre that I think I'm going to have to go back and get- its gorgeous.

I was looking for some 'everyday' summer sandals with a block or wedge heel which give you height but are still easy to walk in and don't hurt your feet.
Kurt Geiger and Zara have some beautiful shoes in lovely colours but most with a stiletto heel.

After grabbing a quick bite to eat in Pret A Manger we decided we had enough energy reserves to brave Primark - actually it wasn't that busy on this occasion.
As expected, they have got a huge range of summer wear - lots of kaftans, bikinis and maxi dresses - perfect if you are planning a summer holiday abroad this year.

I picked up these cute vintage looking drinking glasses (below).  Wouldn't they be lovely filled up with a Mojito or some homemade lemonade with a couple of stripy straws!
You could also use them as a vase to hold a couple of your favourite flowers in.

I have also been hunting everywhere for a pair of sunglasses with mirrored blue lenses.
I saw them first on Victoria Beckham a few months ago and I thought they looked fab.
I finally found them and in a shape that suits my face (below) - you've got to love Primark for being quick off the mark for things like this.  I was hoping Zara would've had some as they are usually very quick for celebrity and designer inspired items.

I also picked up another stated in last months post 'The pursuit of...beautiful accessories' I am starting to get into wearing chains now.
I have already got this necklace (below) in gold so thought I would try the silver.  From experience the 'plait' doesn't stay and starts to unravel but it still looks good this way I've found!

After Lakeside, we stopped off at a lovely gastro pub and sat outside in the sun with a nice glass of Merlot and a delicious meal putting the world to rights.

What a lovely weekend after all eh?!

I hope you too had a good one, wherever you are in the world!

Love, Ivy George x
